Your information, handled like a neighbour's

Plain language, no fine print. If anything here is unclear, write to us and a person will answer.

Last updated: July 5, 2026 · Applies to devvashi.ca and the Dev Vashi campaign for City Councillor, Ward 11, Mississauga.

What we collect

  • Email updates: your first name and email address, when you sign up for updates.
  • Volunteering: your name, phone number and email, the ways you'd like to help, whether you live in Ward 11, plus your postal code if you choose to share it, when you fill out the volunteer form.
  • Supporting: your name, email and postal code, plus your phone number and street address if you choose to share them, when you add your name as a supporter.
  • Donations: your name, email and home address, and the amount, when you contribute. Payments are processed by Stripe; the campaign never sees your card number.
  • Analytics: basic website analytics (pages visited, rough location, device type) through Google Analytics. This is aggregate data; we do not use it to identify you.
  • Ad measurement: the site loads the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which tells Meta which pages here get visited so the campaign can tell whether its online ads are working. Meta sets its own cookies and collects standard browsing data under its own privacy policy. You can limit this with your browser's tracking protections or in your Facebook ad preferences.
  • The ward checker: nothing. When you use "Am I in Ward 11?" on the homepage, your browser asks OpenStreetMap's free address service directly and checks the answer on your device. The address never reaches the campaign and we never store it. The map itself loads from OpenFreeMap, which (like any website) sees standard connection details when tiles load.

Why we collect it

  • To send you the updates you asked for.
  • To coordinate volunteering. Phone is what we use most.
  • To meet the record-keeping rules for donations under the Municipal Elections Act. Contribution records are filed with the City of Mississauga clerk as the law requires.
  • To understand which parts of the site are useful, so we can make it better.
  • To measure whether the campaign's online ads are worth what they cost.
  • To understand which neighbourhoods our support is coming from.

What we never do

  • We never sell your information. To anyone, for any reason.
  • We never hand the information you give us to other campaigns, parties or data brokers. And we never feed what you type into our forms to the analytics or ad tools.
  • We never sign you up for anything you did not ask for.

Where your information lives

Email sign-ups are stored in MailerLite, the campaign's email service. Volunteer and supporter sign-ups are kept in a private Google Sheet. Donation records are kept with the campaign's bookkeeping, as required by law. Access is limited to the small group of people who run this campaign.

Your choices

  • Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click, you're out, no hard feelings.
  • You can ask what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Donation records are the one exception: the law requires us to keep those.
  • To do any of the above, email [email protected] or call 647-588-8706.

After the election

Campaigns end. After the legally required retention period, records that no longer need to be kept are deleted.
